"The arts enable personal, intellectual, social, economic, and human growth by fostering creativity and providing opportunities for expression beyond the limits of language."

- NJ Department of Education

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! I am very excited to be teaching in my ninth year at PHS. Last summer I completed a third and final year of work toward my graduate degree in dance (MFA in Dance) at Hollins University in Virginia! I now hold a master's degree in dance and have attained the highest level of learning in the subject. I am very excited to share all of my new knowledge with you throughout the school year.

Please reference the Schoology page for your class often. There you can also find course documents, homework assignments, rehearsal dates for the performance final in May and any other performance opportunities that may come up throughout the year.

Looking forward to a great year!

This Month in Dance History

October, 1967: The latest sensation in the dance world is Joffrey Ballet’s Astarte, a multi-media presentation that features a rock score, blinding lights, and a pas de deux expressing love – a hippie ballet.
October, 1970: Peter Martins is a new member of the New York City Ballet. Coming from the Royal Danish Ballet specifically to dance for Balanchine, Martins appears most often with Suzanne Farrell, creating a partnership that inspires Balanchine and awes audiences.
