This course provides students with the opportunity to explore the basic fundamentals of food preparation through practical and theoretical experiences. Students will learn to follow safe and sanitary procedures when preparing and storing food. They will read, interpret and implement a recipe. They will apply the principles of good nutrition in the selection and preparation of foods and acquire skills to prepare a quality product. Students will also acquire the basic skills necessary to plan, prepare and serve a complete meal.
