ELL PROFILE DOC
Basic Info 9.1.2021
As we settle into our new normal, I just wanted to provide some basic background info. regarding the ELLs you may have in your classes.
- How do I know if I have an ELL student in my class?
- In genesis the student, in the same location that you see IEP and other icons, you will see a green speaking bubble. If you do not see any icons next to your student names (here is a 45 second tutorial), you can turn this feature on by going in to set-up, edit preferences, and under students select yes to the display statements.
- In your roster, if you hover over the green bubble it will tell you how long they have been in the program
- How do I know my ELLs English proficiency?
- If you check their current schedule, you will see an ESL class. We have levels 1-5.
- Here is a graphic that has simple descriptions of what your ELLs "Can Do"
We also have a handful of ELLs that have refused services (yes, that is a legal option). Families that have refused services are still identified as ELLs, but are not in ESL classes.
- How can I get help? Please reach out to their assigned ESL teacher or me. We be happy to assist.
