Celebrating Black History Month!

February is Black History Month, a time to recognize and honor the achievements and contributions of Black Americans throughout history. At PHS, we are proud to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and the pivotal role that Black individuals have played in shaping our nation. Our counseling department is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, and we encourage our students to engage in meaningful conversations and activities that honor the legacy of Black leaders and changemakers. Join us in commemorating Black History Month as we continue to educate, empower, and uplift our school community.

February is also Financial Aid Awareness Month!
This is a time dedicated to raising awareness about the various forms of financial aid available to students pursuing higher education. This month serves as an opportunity to educate students and families about the options for funding their college education, including scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study programs. Understanding financial aid options is crucial for making informed decisions about college affordability and accessibility. By promoting financial aid awareness, we aim to empower students to explore the resources available to support their educational aspirations. Throughout Financial Aid Awareness Month, we encourage students and families to seek information and guidance on navigating the financial aid process and making sound financial decisions for their future.

National School Counseling Week 2024, also known as #NSCW24, will take place from February 5th to 9th, 2024. This week-long event aims to bring public awareness to the distinctive role of school counselors in the U.S. education system. Sponsored by ASCA, National School Counseling Week emphasizes the significant influence that school counselors wield in supporting students to attain academic success and prepare for their future careers. The theme for 2024 is "School Counseling: Standards-Based, Student-Focused."

Our department provides services to support our student's needs and help them create their educational plan while attending high school and while they transition to various post-secondary opportunities.

Our specialized services include a College & Career Counselor, a Student Assistance Counselor, and Grade Level Counselors.
