Congratulations to two Piscataway High School aerospace science instructors who earned 2026 Outstanding Instructor Awards from the Department of the Air Force!

Lt. Col. Richard Kerr and Senior Master Sgt. Chrissie Slifer were recognized among the nation’s “Best of the Best,” honoring their exemplary contributions and impact on cadets, schools, and communities nationwide as they lead the PHS Air Force Junior ROTC. Headquarters Air Force Junior ROTC said Lt. Col. Kerr and Senior Master Sgt. Slifer “go above and beyond each day” and represent “the highest examples of the Air Force Core Values.”

This prestigious recognition comes on the heels of PHS’s Unit NJ-761 earning the coveted Exceeds Standards assessment during its most recent inspection – further solidifying Piscataway’s AFJROTC program as one of the premier units in the nation.

Through their leadership, mentorship, and unwavering dedication to cadet development, Lt. Col. Kerr and Senior Master Sgt. Slifer continue to inspire excellence inside and outside the classroom. Their commitment reflects the proud tradition and legacy of NJ-761, the oldest high school AFJROTC unit in New Jersey, and the values that define Piscataway High School.
